Supplies: 12 tiles are listed as materials, but I suggest finding scrapbook pages like the one in the picture and laminate them.
Directions: Arrange the tiles in a line on the floor. Establish a starting point for the picture line an have the child step on this tile. Give directions such as: Take three steps on the picture line. Where are you? Take two steps back on the picture line. Where are you? Which is the last picture? Walk to the second picture. Walk to the last picture. How many steps do you need to take to get to the flower?
You can adjust the directions to the child's ability by including two and three step directions (take eight steps then two back).
Goals: To help a child become familiar with the value of numbers, to practice counting, to help them recognize a reference point on a line as well as becoming at ease with movement on this line.
