Supplies:
2 small bowls dried beans or rice sand 1 sifter 1 large bowl Directions: Bring the tray with supplies over to the table. Invite the child to do the exercise. Indicate the beans in the sand which are in a large bowl and the sifter. Pick up some sand mixed with beans with one small bowl. Pour the mixture into the sifter. Sift slowly into the other small bowl until the beans are all that remain in the sifter. Pick up any beans that may have spilled into the tray. Follow the instructions until the beans are all out of the large basin. Goal: To develop order, coordination and concentration, learning to sift. *I suggest getting a crank sifter and squeeze sifter. Both do the same job but require different skills for the hands. |
