Supplies:
Cupcake Tin
Container with lid
Several types of nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, brazil nuts)

Alert: if your little one has a nut allergy, then you could substitute different types of fruit, cereal, and be creative!  Find objects that are similar with different textures.

Invite the child to the table.  Bring the tin and the container to the table.  Take one nut at a time out of the container.  Place the tin in front of the child.  Select each type of nut and place them in separate compartments of the tin.  Continue taking the nuts out noting the differences and feeling them as you place them in the tin.  Complete the exercise and make sure that the nuts in each compartment match.  Replace the nuts in the container.  Ask the child to do the activity.  Return the materials to the shelf when completed.

Goals:
Development of the senses and refining the sense of touch and sight.
Classification of objects by texture and size.
Development of concentration
